Tarifa

0

Tarifa is the closest Spanish town to the African continent. There are 14 kilometers from Tarifa to Morocco.

One of the main characteristics of Tarifa is the Levante wind, thanks to which it has become a privileged place to practice activities such as surfing or hang gliding.

The tour of Tarifa begins at the so-called Puerta De Jerez, dating from the thirteenth century, ancient entrance to the city and nestled between medieval walls.

The narrow streets of Tarifa are full of monuments, and in them you can stroll and enjoy its lively atmosphere.

Itinerary

Day 1Guzmán El Bueno Castle

The most emblematic monument of Tarifa is the castle of Guzmán El Bueno, a character who fought against the Muslims, and who gave the life of his son to the Muslims to protect the castle and the city.

This castle was built in 960 by Abderramán III.

It was restored in the first half of the 17th century.

During the war of independence it served as a barracks for the Spanish-British troops, who defended Tarifa from the French army.
